Day 1: Lecture & Workshop

Visiting American artists Jack Callahan & Jeff Witscher will present their lecture “Even When I Lose I Win”: A Pragmatic Approach to Communication in Time-Based Art, followed by a workshop using ideas presented in the lecture. Non-musicians and non-artists are encouraged to participate.

Day 2: Musicircus

John Cage’s famous 1967 event-piece Musicircus (“For any number of performers willing to perform in the same place at the same time”) will be reinterpreted specifically for Hangar. The space will be filled with speakers playing works from younger American artists (Lucy Lewis, Madalyn Merkey, Kieran Daly and many more), Barcelona-based artists (Rubén Patiño, Arnau Sala Saez, etc), rarely-heard multichannel recordings of historical works of electronic music (John Cage, Karlheinz Stockhausen), live instrumentalists, dancers, lecturers, plus live performances by visiting artists Jack Callahan & Jeff Witscher, computer music pioneer Clarence Barlow, Agnès Pe, Noela Covelo and EVOL.
